Description
The project activity consists of capturing, burning and generating electricity through the use of landfill gas produced under anaerobic conditions at the CTR Metropolitana landfill. Power plant is installed to produce electricity, using part of the electricity for self-consumption and the other part exported to the grid. The landfill gas power plant has a installed capacity of 3.7 MW. The capture and collection systems and flare station consist of a network of pipelines and a flare station, equipped with an open flare, centrifugal blowers and all other subsystems and supporting mechanical and electrical accessories necessary to operate the system. To ensure efficient landfill gas capture and maximum quality, compaction and coverage of waste are carried out daily, as well as the connection of vertical drains.
The Project is in the process of being registered with Verra/VCS.
