CTR Rosario Landfill Gas Project
This landfill is located in Rosário city, Maranhão state, Brazil and generates electricity through landfill gas from the decomposition of solid waste.
Description
The project consists of capturing, flaring and generating electricity through the use of landfill gas (biogas) produced under anaerobic conditions at the Rosario landfill, located in Rosário city, state of Maranhão, Brazil. The project's installed capacity is 3.0 MW. The project built an efficient capture, collection and flare system to burn methane gas (a greenhouse gas), reducing odors and adverse environmental impacts. When generator sets are not in operation due to scheduled maintenance and/or operational failures, landfill gas is sent to the burners.
The Project is registered under United Nations (UNFCCC) and is under registration at Gold Standard.
Benefits (SDG)
