CTL Landfill Gas Project

One of the largest landfill carbon credit projects in Latin America, CTL is located in São Paulo city, state of São Paulo, Brazil and the landfill gas is used to generate electricity and is also transformed into biomethane, where it is destined to the local natural gas network.

      Description

      The landfill receives Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) from the largest city in Latin America, São Paulo.

      The project promotes the collection and controlled burning of biogas from CTL landfill, destroying methane gas (the main component of biogas) through the generation of electricity and also sending biomethane to the local natural gas network.

      The Project is registered under the United Nations (UNFCCC) and is in the process of registering with the Gold Standard.
