Description
The Project consists of capturing the gas generated at the landfill and using it to generate electricity to be exported to the grid and/or burning it in a flare. The project was implemented in two phases; Initially, the landfill gas capture and flaring system was installed; subsequently, an electrical energy generation system was installed, powered by landfill gas and only a possible surplus is burned in the flare. The landfill gas power plant has a generation capacity of 5.7 MW.
The project is registered with the United Nations (UNFCCC).
